SCOTUS Nomination Judge Amy Barrett Steps Into the Proverbial Bullseye – The Reactions, History, and Strategy

President Trump has announced that Judge Amy Coney Barrett is his nominee for the vacant seat on the highest court in the land. Barrett was the odds on favorite, and the news scooped Trump on Friday evening before the official announcement had been made. There will be numerous bios available to read over the days to come, so the Right Wire Report would like to focus on the Democrat’s barbarous and destructive history as stewards of the judiciary process and strategy of the resistance. Saturday evening at dusk, in the iconic Rose Garden, a demurely attired and poised Judge Barrett walked to the podium alongside the president to accept her nomination. She was flanked by her large family, husband of 21 years, and seven children, two who are adopted from Haiti, and the youngest child who has special needs. She then proceeded to humbly and with reverence explain her love for her country and the United States Constitution and the rule of law, specifically identifying that the late Justice Antonin Scalia, who she clerked for, helped shape her judicial philosophy.

Barrett graciously paid tribute to the late Justice Ginsburg, whose seat she hopes to fill by calling her a trailblazer for women saying:

She not only broke glass ceilings, but she smashed them,” Barrett continued. “She was a woman of enormous talent, and consequences and her life of public service serve as an example to us all.” The Judge continued to explain,” The Supreme Court as an institution belongs to all of us.” She affirmed her belief,” A judge must apply the law as written. Judges are not policymakers, and they must be resolute in setting aside any policy views they might hold.” Barrett stated.” If confirmed, I would not assume that role for the sake of those in my own circle and certainly not for my own sake. I would assume that role to serve you. I would discharge the judicial oath which requires me to administer justice without respect to persons, do equal right to the poor and rich, and faithfully and impartially discharge my duties under the United States Constitution.”

As if scripted in advance, the Democrats and their allied media, on cue, came out to eviscerate President Trump’s choice. So how did the Democrats and their cohorts choose to inform the public about this working mother of a multicultural family, devoted public servant, devout Catholic, and minibus driving suburban woman? There was even an attack on Barrett’s racially diverse children! ( Kendi is Director of Boston  University Anti-racist Research ). Senator Tom Cotton immediately called this out:

Not to belabor the point, but here is the left’s Sherpa, Bill Maher on Friday evenings show declaring, “Apparently, the pick is going to be Amy Coney — we’re going to be saying the name a lot because she’s a fuckin” nut, religion, I was right about that one too! — Amy Coney Barrett,” Maher stated. “Catholic. Really Catholic. I mean, really, really Catholic — like speaking in tongues. She doesn’t believe in condoms, which she has in common with Trump, because he doesn’t either. We learned that from Stormy Daniels.” No, really- watch:

How did our Constitutional Republic get here? This unraveling of decency and efficacy to the nomination process began in 1987 when President Reagan chose his third nomination for the Supreme Court, Robert Bork. The term “Borking” was born to describe the obstruction and horrific character assassinations the Democrats would roll out for future nominees any Republican president might offer. Democrat Senator Ted Kennedy spearheaded Bork’s assault when he declared standing in the well of the Senate:

“Robert Bork’s America is a land which women would be forced into back-alley abortions, blacks would sit at segregated  lunch counters, rogue police could break down citizen’s doors in midnight raids, and schoolchildren could not be taught about evolution …”

The number of Republican SCOTUS nominees that have been tied to the stake and attempted to be burned alive by Democrat smears and defamation is legendary. Who could forget Justice Clarence Thomas’s hearings and the orchestrated Anita Hill accusations of sexual misconduct? Joe Biden was a key perpetrator of this campaign, but it is Thomas who frames it best:

John Daniel Davidson at the Federalist has an excellent piece out reviewing the grotesque history of Democrats strategy when a Republican president nominates a Justice. Read more here where he details the hits on Justice Roberts, Alito, and Gorsuch. Davidson:

“Every time a Republican president has nominated someone to the Supreme Court in the last 30 years, with one notable exception, Democrats have responded by smearing the nominee with accusations of ideological extremism, racism, misogyny, sexual harassment, plagiarism, and, most infamously in Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s case, gang rape.”

Sadly, all of the above-targeted defamation and derailing attempts cannot hold a candle to the pièce de résistance over Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The Majority leader of the Senate, Mitch McConnell, and Judiciary Chair( NC) Lindsey Graham both indicate they have the votes to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett. Republicans outwardly assert an air of inevitability with a vote to happen before the election. Filling the seat is not unprecedented, as you can read here.  Democrats have a few hissy fits they can throw with procedural delays here and there along the way; however, they have no mechanism to eat away the clock in any impactful way. Read statements from leaders here, here, here, and here. Presidential nominee Joe Biden also released a statement:

It is worth remembering that Democrats were roundly criticized during Barrett’s confirmation to the lower courts for making her religious beliefs a disqualifier. The irony is Biden is running as a Christian, Schumer wears his Jewish faith boldly on his political sleeve, and Pelosi is self-acclaimed planned parenthood loving Catholic. Recall this exchange between Senator Feinstein and Barrett when she was confirmed along party lines to the lower courts in 2017. They must proceed more stealthy this time and save attacks on her religion from being deployed after the media lay down the marker. By marker, we mean smear. The Newsweek article above was the foundation and expect some made up smear from that flank to emerge.

Shortly after the election, the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the ACA case the states have brought regarding the constitutionality of the Obamacare law. Democrats have staked out their first line of assault as painting Barrett’s nomination to the demise of Obamacare and stripping healthcare from Americans. Look for media droning on about this, faux polling and leftist Think Tank papers to support such fear-mongering.

The Pandemic has limited Democrat’s ability to fill the halls of the Senate with protesters or pack the Senate hearings with disruptors. But they will stage numerous Biden/Harris events centered around this one line of attack, including most likely a CNN town hall. Fox News’s Chris Wallace will oblige the left by teeing up the talking point during the first presidential debate. Not to be left out, Silicon Valley Tech Titans and Hollywood elites will do the more nasty lifting by making Barrett synonymous with putting chastity belts back on American women!

If history is any guide, the Democrat’s strategy will be to manufacture some evidence indicative of the Judge’s hypocrisy on morals. The obvious would be to have some woman or man emerge with a story connected to Barrett’s marriage. No, I would not be shocked to see them roll out a false smear that she or her husband was bisexual or unfaithful, and after living through Kavanaugh, you should not be either. Another strategy play would be to accuse Barrett, with false witness rumors, of being an unfit catholic and mother. You know the drill,  “she is not what she appears to be and it is all an act and she cannot be trusted with the moral compass of the court.”

This would also most likely involve some angle about her adopted children of color. I know what you are thinking- attacking a working mom would be counter-intuitive for Democrats who claim to be the champion of women. Have you witnessed the Democrats lately? Nothing they do makes sense. I get a chill typing this … but do not be shocked to see a direct smear on one of her teenage children either. Remember what they did to Palin? Or, more recently, Kellyanne Conway’s teen daughter?

So the game-plan is to target Barrett as the death knell to Roe v. Wade, reproductive rights in general, healthcare rights,second amendment, LGQTB rights, and some kind of enforcer of theocracy. Biden/Harris, the Democrats, and their allies will not hesitate to go after her husband, her children, or anyone in her extended family to blow up her nomination. During the hearings, look for the Democrats to ask Barrett to recuse herself from any case that arises out of the 2020 election process, a fool’s errand at best. This is why the Republicans must move swiftly and decisively and not allow the enemy time to hatch and bloom their heinous smears as they did with Kavanaugh. Some Democrat Senators are already refusing to meet with Barrett, which means Graham can push the gas and move to closure.

Judge Amy Coney Barrett and her family are exceptionally brave Americans in a time when one’s very life is in jeopardy against the present-day mob. All Americans should accept that accountability for such rabid behaviors is on all of us. We could stop the left cold if we choose, and we should. Buckle up and protect your Republic now. Use your phone, computer, voice, and presence to demand a fair and decent confirmation process. Blow up media and social platforms feedback portals as well.

After all, if the public a Justice serves is more cowardly than the Justice – do we even deserve a Republic?
