One of the world’s most-read playwright, William Shakespeare, immortalized the phrase “Et-Tu, Brute” in the work of Julius Caesar. The line of dialogue is stated by the Roman Emperor at the moment of his assassination to his friend Marcus Brutus upon recognizing Brutus as one who was ending his life. The Latin phrase literally translated as, “and you,” is used often to defer a sense of betrayal and an unexpected one.
Dan Cathy is the son of Chick-Fil-A’s founder S.Truett Cathy and the current CEO of Chick-Fil-A fast-food chain. Recently, Cathy attended Passion City Church, Atlanta, and appeared on a panel with the pastor and founder, Louie Giglio, and a Rapper named Lecrae. What did Cathy have to say? Well, as it turns out – Dan profusely waxed on about atonement. Oh, wait, not just for his personal actions, he felt he must atone for, but for the entire white race collectively!
Before Cathy got down on his knee and began to shine the shoes of the Black Rapper as a symbolic gesture of atonement, he made these statements to the large gathering:
- “White people need to repent of their racism.”
- “Most of us, white people, we’re out-of-sight, out-of-mind oblivious to it.”
- “We cannot let this moment pass.”
- “Our silence is so huge at this time. We cannot be silent. Somebody has to fight, and God has so blessed our city, but it’s shameful how we let things get so out of whack.”
- “We as Caucasians, until we’re willing to just pick up the baton and fight for our black, African American brothers and sisters, which they are as one human race, we’re shameful.”
- “Any expressions of a contrite heart, of a sense of humility, a sense of shame, a sense of embarrassment … an apologetic heart, I think that’s what our world needs to hear today.”
- “I invite folks just to put some words to action here, and if we need to find somebody that needs to have their shoes shined, we need to just go right on over and shine their shoes.” “Whether they got tennis shoes on or not — maybe they got sandals on — it really doesn’t matter. But, there’s a time in which we need to have some personal action here. Maybe we need to give them a hug, too.
- “I bought about 1,500 of these [brushes], and I gave them to all our Chick-Fil-A operators and staff a number of years ago.”
“So, any expressions of a contrite heart, of a sense of humility, a sense of shame, a sense of embarrassment begat with an apologetic heart — I think that’s what our world needs to hear today.”
Official Chick-Fil-A Statement:

The Rapper Lecrae’s immediate facial affect and response seem to indicate he was oblivious to how condescending and cringe-worthy it felt to those watching from afar. Lecrae seemed to be enjoying the submissive posturing and even quipped, “And some stock in Chick-Fil-A.” denoting the shine was not a bank.
Does anyone remember that time the intolerant left tried to shut down Chick-Fil-A because it stood by its founder’s right to personally express support for traditional marriage and funding advocacy groups the same? Conservatives came out in massive numbers to support the company and sent Chick-Fil-A to the top of the best fast food rated list. Care to take odds on where it will be three months from now?
So why is Cathy making the absurd and frankly insane choices of late? The CEO said roughly a dozen Chick-Fil-A establishments had been vandalized in the last week as protests broke out across America in the wake of the George Floyd’s death in the custody of the police. Cathy said of the subsequent vandalism that his “plea would be for the white people, rather than point fingers at that kind of criminal effort, would be to see the level of frustration and exasperation and almost the sense of hopelessness that exists on some of those activists within the African American community.” The Mafia would shakedown shopkeepers to pay protection money in Sicilian culture. That payment was known as the Pizzo. So is Cathy exhibiting a modern-day Pizzo?
Right Wire Report is pretty sure Mike Cernovich is not Sicilian (joke reference to Pizzo), but he is married to a beautiful, accomplished, Iranian-American and they have a daughter. Shauna Cernovich’s parents are secular Persian Muslims who fled Iran before it became a theocracy. These facts do not stop the left from labeling him a racist, misogynist, bigot, and of course, a KKK White Nationalist. The left assigns this many labels as an attempt to silence a voice, not allow others to listen to it. Right Wire Report supports free speech so let us all hear Mike Cernovich’s response:

Confession up front – this writer is full to the brim of a swirling vortex of emotions, none of them healthy, after witnessing weeks of vulgar displays of entitlement, hypocrisy, cowardliness, and capitulation to the mob by so many. Cathys’ choice to play out his cynical manipulations in a church setting truly chaps my derriere. For too long, I have seen the insidious creep of critical race theory and Black Liberation Marxist Theology parasitize our religious institutions. Flocks are subjected to “holy men and women” bastardizing the teachings of Christ to instill some inherited unworthiness, shame, and collective guilt as a perverse mechanism for social change.
The sins of our forefathers are not passed to each of us in a birth tattoo, Scarlet Letter across our chests, or the pigment of our skin, as to identify us for targeted humiliation and penance. There is no Christian who believes Jesus died, so we must all burden the collective sins of others – quite the contrary. It is offensive for any other being to claim superior moral authority over others as to instruct submission under the guise of false humility and lies. Such action is unholy and falls short of grace.
Dan Cathy’s father, the founder of Chick-Fil-A, passed in 2014. There is little doubt in my mind he would not approve of his son’s gross indulgence at the expense of so many and their dignity. Telling white people they must repent for their inherent racism is a racist declaration itself. Those genuflecting at the altar of distorted facts and facilitating the propaganda that systemic racism exists in America, and its institutions are displaying dangerous ignorance. Cathy, not only facilitated more division and stoked the flames higher, he did so in the name of all white people!
No Thank you, Dan, I will have no part in this extreme tokenism. I do not need you to practice revolting virtue-signaling for my soul to be well with my lord, my spouse, my child, my grandchild, my pet, my garden, my game night poker crew, my co-workers, my fellow pew – squatters, or fellow Americans with darker skin – you get my drift. Expand training programs for minorities to enter management positions for those who earn it on merit and whip out that checkbook and pay for black students who excel to go to Charter schools and then college. But kindly stay off your knees and put the brush down when you invoke my collective name!
Right Wire Report wants our position on this subject fully comprehended. Chic-B-Tray no more. This writer vows, as penitence for my alleged “collective white shame,” never to eat at Chick-Fil-A again. And observe, I made that vow standing and off my knees!
Assigning guilt based on skin color is the definition of racism. Kneeling, as a sign of contrition for an act or statement one did not do, is the opposite of taking personal responsibility. Brutal truths, accepted understandings, and individual accountability and actions are the only pathways to collective homeostasis.
