NPR is the latest organization to don the firemen helmet of the book burners we know from Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. NPR (see story) is advocating for white people to “decolonize” their bookshelves of works by white authors.
NPR shares the penchant for “book burning” with the NAZI’s who did the same to authors they found repellant. The difference here is that NPR is asking the public to do it to themselves. Radical liberals like those that huddle under the NPR banner have no sense of irony, as they openly voice their distaste for a group of people based on their skin color, in this case, dead white authors, while simultaneously claiming to be the arbiters of all that is right and just, as it relates to social justice. We are living in a world where it’s OK to spew racism, as long as it’s the proper kind of racism – the kind that emanates from the mouths of democrats daily from the halls of congress down to the radical in the street, who demands that people get down on their knees and apologize for the mortal crime of being white.
In 2017, a group of Yale undergrads petitioned the English department to “decolonize” the curriculum by dropping historical white authors of merit. The petition says forcing students to read the works of William Shakespeare, John Milton, and T.S. Eliot, among others, “creates a culture that is especially hostile to students of color.” Just like NPR, these students put on the Fahrenheit 451 helmet to extinguish the words of incredible authors because of skin color.
Have these ivy league miscreants ever heard, much less absorbed, the words of Martin Luther King?
“Judge a man by the content of his character, not the color of his skin.”
Sadly, they missed the sage advice of this well-known author of color. These supposed “woke” social justice warriors who walk the wall for equality and inclusion are the epitome of hypocrisy, as evidenced by this line in their petition: “It’s time for the English major to decolonize – not diversify – its course offerings.” Where is the inclusion? Where is the equality? Where are the sane, rational voices in the universities?
These ideas and language propagated in faculty lounges, radical student groups, and Leftist American media are from the same odious seeds fertilized by the venom of historical monsters like Adolf Hitler, Mao Zedong, and Nathan Bedford Forrest. Leftists and Academics, either knowingly or unknowingly, are actively practicing the hatred they claim to combat in the name of social justice, a term that is quickly becoming an oxymoron spoken by the jackals of our time.
