The USS George Washington (CVN-73) is a United States Navy nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the sixth carrier in the Nimitz class and the fourth US Navy ship named after George Washington, the first president of the United States.
The USS George Washington issued a set of orders that’s sure to catch people’s attention during the holidays. The Facebook page of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier posted the “orders” early Tuesday morning, calling up “Adm. S. Claus” and his crew to accomplish Christmas tasks. The Department of the Navy issued orders today to “Adm. S. Claus,” recalling him to active duty, with a report date of Dec. 24, 2019,” the post read. “A reservist, with 1,742 years of service, this Naval Aviator specializes in vertical delivery of high-value items.” Here is their Facebook post:
While others use the holidays as a time to attack Christianity and even Jesus Christ, it looks like the USS George Washington brings a little humor and positivity to the people they protect. But for now, let’s put aside political disagreements and think a little broader about our lives and the history that brought us to where we are at today. Many would naysay and forget that you are living in the best of times in human history, though others would tell you differently – see here if you have forgotten.
Christmas is a time for family gatherings. Good food, enjoying friends, the Christmas parties, a time for kids – seeing the gleam in their eyes when they finally get that present they have been waiting for all year. The beautiful glimmering Christmas decorations can be inspiring, as we bustle about town doing our final preparations.
As we experience this time of joy, we do need to be reminded that there are other concerns to be thinking about as well. Yes, there are evil forces, foreign and domestic, that plot to take our liberties away – built by generations that have come before us. Our liberties are not guaranteed, they must be defended.
Out on the high seas, where the massive waves are crashing against the bowels of the ships in our military, we have dedicated men and women that serve to protect us. Not just on the high seas, but in the air, on the ground and now even in space – in all the branches of our military. A special shout out to all our veterans that have already served and now are our responsibility to care for – see here an example.
So this Christmas, take a little stroll through your local town square, partake in the Christmas cheer and ponder. Enjoy the moment for sure, but take just a few minutes and think about our military folks that serve to defend and protect our freedoms. God speed to those on the USS George Washington and all in our military – past, and present.
Merry Christmas to you all.
